What’s Next?

Anyone reading this likely knows that I stepped away from contributing to WordPress recently. But only some will know that I made the difficult decision to leave my Head of Community role at Codeable.

Codeable was what I consider to be my dream job – the intersection of people, events, and WordPress development. Needless to say, I absolutely love community work. Not enough companies place importance on nurturing the networks that drive their success. And many appear to celebrate their communities in an disingenuous or selfish way. (Rant post on the way regarding consumer labor.)

At the end of the day, Codeable is a stand-out freelancing platform precisely because of the deep and genuine emphasis on community development. (Plus the minimum hourly pricing model keeps the quality of work high and is more morally upright than some platforms that will not be named.)

I’ve left on (at least what I consider to be) good terms and am deep into planning what’s to come next.

But first, I wanted to express my gratitude towards those I worked with. I won’t highlight everyone who has left an impact on me because last time I wrote a list of names of people I appreciate it was literally over 200 people – which would perhaps water down the message. 🙂 But know that if we spoke while I was at Codeable, even just once or twice, you’ve left an impact on me.

So special shout-outs go to:
Halima, Joe, Deb, Shadi, Birgit, Allan, Kay, Tami, Edith, Ellie, Josh, Marcel, Mike A, Ioanna, Panos, Ali K, Gerónimo, Nathan, Radu, both Paul Cs, Marc, Robin, Rob, Meher, Olga, James, Ricardo, Samuel, Giles, Stefano, Avery, Ali S, Dan, Serafín, Matjaz, Joseph, Baljinder, Neven, Yoren, Zach, Elson, Srikanth, Gabriel, Charles, Jon O, Francesco, Jenny, Keryn, BT, Lucio, Daniel A, Ali D, Rafal, Belinda, Ganga, Xaver, Ilya, Nikola, both Janines, Surendra, Fede, Diego, Jon B

I’ve been really touched by those of you who have reached out to me since my departure. Of course I myself know that I care deeply for people and try to convey it in my actions, but it’s been really meaningful to realize it hasn’t gone unnoticed.

After a great chat with one of the experts, I’ve decided to take some time to dabble and test the viability of some side projects I have in mind. So please watch this space. 🙂

PS: Still, free Palestine.
